22 CARS Programs Win China Railway Society Scientific and Technological Awards 2011

Results of China Railway Society Scientific and Technological Awards 2011 were unveiled on February 27th, 2012. 22 hosted projects and 18 joint projects of CARS were granted the China Railway Society Scientific and Technological Awards 2011 (Railway Science and Technology Awards), whereas Li Yaozeng and Gu Xiao’an of the Environmental Protection Division were laureates of the Railway Environment Protection Awards.

The program that won the grand prize was: the “Combined Adjusting and Commissioning and Integrated Testing for the Wuhan-Guangzhou High Speed Railway” headed by the R&D Center.

Programs winning the First Prize include: the “Research and Application of Key Technical Parameter System for Bridges on High Speed Rail” headed by the CARS Railway Construction Institute; the “Technological Innovation and Engineering Application for General Pallet Transportation on Long Steel Tracks of Passenger Rail” headed by the CARS Transportation Economics Institute; the “Information System for Railway Security Monitoring and Management” headed by the Electronics Institute; the “Research and Engineering Practices of Pneumatic Effects of Tunnels on High Speed Rail” headed by the Railway Construction Institute; the “Rail Passenger Transportation Settlement System” led by the Electronics Institute; and the “World Rail Development Trends and Lessons” presided by the Information Institute.

The second-prize winners were: the “Development and Application of Semi-physical Simulation Testing Platform for Network Control System for High Speed Trains”, and the “Development and Application of the System for General Safety Testing of the Wheel-Rail Force” headed by the Vehicle/Rolling Stocks Institute; the “Development and Application of Emulsified Asphalt-cement Mortar and Respective Materials for Ballastless Tracks” headed by the Metal-Chemical Institute; the “Testing, Study and Application of Structural Concrete Materials for Ballastless Tracks” and “Testing, Study and Application of the Blasting Method to Accelerate Drainage and Consolidation at Deep-layer Soft-soil Foundation” hosted by the Railway Construction Institute; the “Simulative Study and Engineering Application of Traction and Braking for Multi Units” hosted by the R&D Center; and the “Information Sharing Know-how for Train Control-Command System” owned by the Communication and Signaling Institute.

The third-prize winners were: the “Research and Application of Technical Regulation Regime for Railways” headed by the Standardization Institute; the “Aluminithermic Welding Materials and Process for Steel Tracts of Accelerated Heavy Routes” headed by the Metals-Chemicals Institute; the “Development and Application of Long-chord Laser Measurement Technology and Device for Tracts of Accelerated Routes” headed by the Railway Construction Institute; “Research in the Optimization of Travel Environment on Qinghai-Tibet Railway” headed by the Environment Protection Institute; “Research and Application of the Advisory Value for the Irregularity Quality Index of Tracts of Accelerated Routes, and the Management Approach” hosted by the Foundation Institute; the “Research and Engineering Application of the Wheel-Tract Relationship of Heavy-haul Trains on Datong-Qinghuangdao Rail” hosted by the R&D Center; the “Intelligent JWLZ Multi Units Wheel Weight Inspection System” headed by the Electronic Institute; and the “Research and Application of Main Technical Measures for Office Energy Efficiency” headed by the Environmental Protection Institute.

Totally 220 programs were granted the China Railway Society Scientific and Technological Awards 2011 (Railway Science and Technology Awards), along with 28 individuals who were honored with the Railway Environmental Protection Awards during this year’s event.
